we have a GE profile prodigy washer. when washing, it will not complete the risnse cycle, won't dispense/drain the fabric softner or spin to dry. was wondering if I should buy your part # AP3140343, a control assembly. Thanks

washer is 5 years old

Hi Mike,

The first thing I would check is the lid switch (#388 on the break down diagram). You have to remove the front panel to access it.

Here are the break down diagrams for the GE washer Model WPSE4200A0WW

with the lid open, by using a magnet attached the washing machine where the lid strip would make contact with it seemed to have fooled the machine to think the lid was closed. In the rinse cycle, I could hear the motor running and the a knob on the control panel trying to advance to the next cycle, but it never went there to dispense the fabric softner neither did it spin.

Mike,

Remove the front panel and check the belt.

Bypass the lid switch and run the washer.

When the motor runs, does the transmission pulley run too?

Gene.
