Mark,

I believe your model number is incorrect, is it DU1148xtpba ?

That's the closest I can get to the number you supplied.

You most likely have a bad keypad / control panel assembly,

Part number: AP4310740
Part number: AP4310740

I'm attaching a copy of the diagnostic, service test.

When you program in the diagnostic cycle, if the control does not accept it,

Replace the Control Panel / Key Pad Assembly
(the manufacturer never came up with a touchpad matrix test).

If it does accept the program, let it run the complete test cycle, so you reset the main control board memory(in the panel), provided there are no lights on at the end of the test.

If there are light(s)on, or the test mode stops during the test , you may have to replace the control board.

Part number: AP4309110
Part number: AP4309110

Good Luck,

:) :) :)

SERVICE DIAGNOSTICS CYCLE NOTES

NOTE 1.
To invoke the Diagnostics Cycle, perform

the following key presses or actions in less than
6 seconds while in standby:
Heated Dry

➙ Normal ➙ Heated Dry ➙ Normal

■

To rapid advance one interval at a time, press the

Start/Resume key.
■

Invoking Service Diagnostics clears all status and

last ran information from memory and restores
defaults; It also forces the next cycle to be a sensor
calibration cycle.
Calibration cycles begin with a “sensor check” to
determine whether the dishwasher has an OWI soil
sensor or not. If the control detects an OWI, it forces
two rinses to occur prior to Final Rinse (to assure
clear water), then calibrates the OWI during the final
rinse.
NOTE 2.

Turn on all LEDs immediately upon

receiving entry sequence (even if door open) and
throughout this first interval as a display test.
NOTE 3.

On numeric time display models, display

the following software information after the initial
display test:
■

Interval 18 – Dishwasher control platform number

(“d3” Raptor/Tall Tub, “d2” Cheetah/Briva, “d1”
Rush/Tall Tub, “d0” New Gen).
■

Interval 17, 16, 15 – Software generation number

(incremented for each release of software to
production).
NOTE 4.

If flow meter is operating correctly the

control will turn on the Clean LED when flow meter
counts 3 or more pulses anytime during these
intervals.
NOTE 5.

Thermistor (temperature sensor) checks:

■

Turn Clean LED on if thermistor is in its normal

temperature range of 17°C–71°C (62°F–160°F).
■

Turn sanitized LED on if thermistor is above

38°C (100°F).
NOTE 6.

OWI (optical soil sensor) checks:

■

Check OWI sensor for the presence of clear water

during the 5 sec. pause in interval 13 and turn on the
Clean LED in interval 12 if clear water detected.
■

Check OWI sensor for the presence of air during the

last 5 sec. of Drain interval 3 and turn on the Clean LED
in interval 2 if air detected.
■

Check OWI sensor for presence of bulk soil in the

water during pause interval 8; execute max. allowed
APFs and turn on Clean LED in interval 7 if bulk soil
detected.
NOTE 7.

Heater relay must lag wash motor relay by

1.5 sec. at start-up of heated wash intervals to avoid
simultaneous heater and motor in-rush current

Mark,

We're back to the Key pad / Control panel assembly.

Try this first, disconnect the ribbon from the electronic control board, clean the end of the ribbon with rubbing alcohol, and re-insert it into the connector, tightly.

If you still can't program or start the machine, replace the part.

Did you ever have a blinking light above one of the selection key pads?

:) :) :)

Hi Joe, I have a Wirlpool DU1145XTPQ7 that doesn't want to start. When I select Normal the Heated Dry lamp come on automatically, and seem to flicker on and off like it has a short or something for about 2 to 3 mins, and the Start button doesn't work when I try to start the cycle. Can you help?

Thanks, Young

Young, Like the previous post, you most likely have an issue in the keypad assembly.

Part number: AP3774272
Part number: AP3774272

You can remove the lower kickplate panel and you should find the "Tech Data Sheet" attached to the back of the panel. You can then test each keypad circuit, with a multimeter, and program into the diagnostics tests, etc. and verify the issue and the proper operation of the dishwasher, and yopu'll be up and running in no time.
