Hi all..
I have a Whirlpool Gold Senseon Dryer, Gas. It has not been used for a couple of months. It spins, but will not heat up. The gas line is fine and it is getting gas.
Any thoughts?
Thanks! Sherry

Thanks! Sherry Sherry, Remove the small plastic cover on the front panel, and start the dryer in a dry cycle. Observe the operation of the gas valve : 1) You should hear a click when you start the cycle. 2) You should see an orange glow from the igniter. 3) You should see the glow subside and see or hear the gas release and burner flame ignite. You could have any one of several failures, Do this check, and let us know what you observe, and we can get a better idea of which direction to take. :) :) :)

The picture that you posted on my dryer is all metal, that is why I was confused. Do I need to remove that whole front cover to get to the ignition, because it is one big metal piece.
Thanks, Sherry

Thanks, Sherry Sherry, If you're sure you do not have a 2x2 inch plastic square panel on the lower area of the front panel. How about a complete lower access panel, approximately 9 inches high and the full width of the dryer ? If you have neither, I'd be surprised, but yes you will need to remove the front panel, and several other components to access and observe the gas valve and burner assembly.

Joe..
I swear I dont have either of those! The front of my dryer is complete metal. It has that tiny little hole at the bottom left, but it is a completely one piece of metal. I took a picture to show you, but cant figure out how to post it here! :-)

(apparently your plastic cover has fallen / broken off ?(the hole does look like the hole in the picture I sent you in a previous post). That's the "peep hole" you need to use to observe the ignition procedure. How to check / observe the ignition procedure : Put the timer dial in a timed dry selection. Make sure, Regular or high heat temperature selection is made. Start the mahine. In a split second you should hear a "click". Look at or into (not too close) the "peep hole". You should see a bright orange glow, And after a few seconds, the glow will start to dim, You should be able to hear the gas Ignite (swoosh noise) and see a blue flame through the "peep hole". Observe for a couple of cycles(5 minutes) and let us know what occurs. We'll have a better idea of what to expect, if you do. Thanks, :) :) :)
