Our GE True Temp electric range bottom element in our oven does not heat up. The continuity is good in the element. The broiler element DOES work. When we turn the oven on, it seems to continuously cycle (clicking on and off) If it's the control panel, then why does everything else work? Any suggestions?

If it's the control panel, then why does everything else work? The control board has relays on it for the bake and broil elements. If the bake relay contacts burn out the unit will try to turn the element on but cannot. This is probably the clicking you hear.
Could also be that a wire from the control to the element is bad. Unplug the unit, remove the back and check them.
As usual I cannot find a wiring diagram for GE so cannot confirm the above. Some units have an over temperature thermostat that will disconnect the bake element if tripped. I went through the parts breakdown and could not find one so am assuming your unit does not have one. If it does it is usually mounted to the back wall of the oven. |
