We have a GE jvm1540dm1bb model microwave that is installed in our condo (I am not sure of the age, but I put 1-5 years because it looks new)
On Friday the touchpad stopped responding. I unplugged the unit to reboot it, and then the display above the touchpad went into a sort of frozen mode with asterisks in the date/time area and
timer NITE help REM MUTE AMPM (battery pic)
below that.
No button will respond, nor beep. Deader'n a doornail.
What should I do?
thanks, jim p.

You might want to first check the integrity of the power source, as well as for proper polarity. If all's well at the outlet, I would look into replacing the smart board. Part number: AP3994110

Well, I ordered the smart board, assuming that it would come with some installation instructions - but it's just a smart board, in bubble wrap.
Googling hasn't helped me either - all I found when I googled was my own post from the other day :)
Any pointers or links?
thanks, jim p.

Before you take out any parts or disconnect any wires from the old board, make sure your new board matches up with the old one. A good idea is to take a digital photo of the original, so that if yu forget what goes where, you'll have a visual record. If you can, transfer wire connectors one at a time, from the old to the new.
