My washing machine just recently started making this loud thumping noise at the end of the spin cycle. I am thinking that it is the clutch or brake parts. This is gear driven, not belt. Everything else is working and the clothes are getting cleaned. Any ideas?

I would pull the agitator and check the drive block nut, if loose, you probably wore the spin tube tabs.
