Maytag Neptune gas dryer. When I push the start button the moisture light kind of comes on but the dryer will not start.

Start by checking your thermal fuse. Test it for continuity. If the thermal fuse is out the dryer will not start.
Part number AP285207(your original one may not look quite like the one pictured. Hope that helps. Nat

My wiring diagram shows a thermal fuse behind the panel and one underneath. we checked the one on top by taking out the wires and connecting the 2, it still won't start. the one underneath seems very hard to get to. if we can get to it, do we check it the same way?

It's best to check them with an ohm meter. But you can try to bypass the other to see if it will start, but don't run it that way for long, it's for your safety. Nat
