Dishwasher seems to surge on wash cycle. When I add water/1gal it seems to wash fine. Ive checked the water valve screen and its clean and Ive also checked the float switch and it seem to work fine. The washer fills with water but Im thinking just not enough water. Please help.

The dishwasher starts but then pauses then starts and then pauses again. What could be the problem?

That's normal for most of the dishwashers so they can rinse and power off the grime.
