Greetings, I have a Kitchen Aid Prestige clothes washer model # KAWS677EQ0. It's making a metallic squeaking/clanking noise during the spin cycle. A service technician came over and diagnosed it as a failing transmission. They're recommending replacing the machine. I've watched the video for this service job and it doesn't look too bad.
How do I verify the diagnosis?
Is there anything else that can cause this type of noise during a spin cycle?
Thank you.

I corrected the model # in the previous message text.
Also note that I ran the washing machine in the spin cycle with the lid open. The inner drum seems to bounce around a bit even without any clothes in the machine. I attempted to stabilize the drum, but the noise didn't change.
Does this still sound like a bad transmission?
