Hello, My Dad recently passed away and he had what I believe was a Kenmore Washer and I'm sure it's a Kenmore dryer. The dryer wouldn't heat at all. It would run but no heat so I automatically thought it was the element. So I took the back panel off and the element looked fine and I went ahead and checked continuity and it was okay. Not being an appliance guy I wasn't sure what to check next and a friend of mine said to check the thermal fuse which I did with continuity and it was okay, but now i have no idea where to go next to check? I was hoping that someone here could direct me to a next possible part to check? Also, does anyone happen to know if there are any part location diagrams available for that model dryer? It would be a big help. Thanks for any possible help you can give me as I'd hate to throw the dryer away if it''s only going to take a $20 part to get it running again.

First thing I always do is make sure there is 240 volts to the dryer and that the terminals and cord are OK. Once you've done that, you can start checking other things.

You check the element for continuity and you check the thermal fuse/cutout and the high limit thermostat on the side of the element.

If they are OK, check the thermostat located on the back of the blower housing. I usually check the thermal fuse at the same time.

If they are OK, I check the Timer for continuity when set on a heat cycle. If it tests good I usually end up doing a live voltage check to see where the voltage is stopped at. Most cases this isn't necessary.

If you go to $ears and type in your model number it will show you a parts diagram for your dryer. For some reason your model no. doesn't come up on this web site.

Oh, and if there is a heat selection switch they sometimes go bad and the switch on the motor can go bad to or burn a wire off. I hope this helps.
