Drying is a combination of heat and airflow.

Check your vent and make sure its clean and unrestricted all the way to the outside. Check inside the lint filter area too.

I also found this on another page.

Core issue: Why does my Whirlpool Gold dryer shut off and give an E1 code, model number GGX9868JQ0?

Resolution: The machine control has detected a open thermal sensor.

In some cases the control can be non-functioning and not accept any activation from the customer interface (keypad), to clear and restart the control follow the below listed steps:

Unplug or turn the circuit breaker off for a 30 second period.

Reconnect the unit to the power source, breaker back on or plug into the wall outlet.

Press the Pause/Cancel/Stop button twice to clear the PF in the display.

Try to start a short cycle to check the operation of the machine by selecting a cycle and pressing and holding the start button until the machine starts.

Thanks, I cleaned dust and lint out of dryer today when I changed the thermistor. I will check vent through the basement tomorrow. I will also check the thermal sensor
