** MAGIC CHEF YE20HN3 Electric Dryer Problem: Heat ceased Action so far:
- Took dryer apart, found/cleared all lint throughout dryer & exhaust hose.
- Tested fuse & it was blown
- Purchased new fuse & heating element
- Installed both & tested dryer; heating element would heat briefly then cut out; top of dryer was very, very hot prior to element cutoff
- Dryer continued spinning after heating element cutoff and air is flowing; blower wheel observed functioning in subsequent test
- Learned about & found thermal regulator; tested positive for continuity but replaced it anyways in case defective
- New thermal regulator installed; tested dryer again; same results - heating element would heat briefly then cut out; top of dryer very hot again; dryer continued spinning following element cutoff
- Re-tested continuity of heating element, fuse & new regulator – all tested OK.
- Noticed that thermal regulator did not sit too tight when mounted against heating element wall and theorized that perhaps the terminals of regulator might be making periodic contact w/ ground and that might be why heating element was overheating/shutting down.
- Tightened regulator mount against heating element wall, ensuring that terminals would not make contact to ground.
- Re-tested dryer with dryer roof open so I could see element light up. After observing element lit for more than a minute on this test (it usually cut off in less than 10 sec in previous tests with the roof down & door open for element observation,) I closed down the roof and heating element cut off within 10 seconds or so; dryer continued spinning.
- Re-tested fuse; this time it was blown. Have not re-tested thermal regulator at this writing but believe there's an issue greater than these parts.
- Stumped at this point!

Have you been testing the dryer with the door open? The door needs to be closed so there is airflow through the heating element, through the drum, through the filter and through the blower wheel and then out the dryer vent. Without airflow the element will overheat and trip off the high limit and eventually blow the thermal fuse. Did you clean out the area under the filter? Its often pretty plugged up with lint. Another failure area with this design is the front glides and the blower wheel. They often wear away and the blower wheel wears out its center, so it just spins free on the motor shaft. Thanks - tested again w/ door shut & roof down & all seems fine! The lint was already removed from everywhere. The blower wheel is ok - replaced not long ago but I'll check those glides.
