Would you believe we spilled clothes detergent into the lint collector slot. The dryer makes an awful noise and the detergent has drained out of the exhaust port. Afraid to run. The detergent must have effected the belt or possibly motor. Looking for advice on maintenance. Thanks.

You will need to clean out the rest of the detergent before using. It shouldn't have damaged anything, but you will be able to know for sure once you remove the lint trap housing to clean it out and to clean the blower wheel. Unplug the dryer first, then look at this video starting at 3:50 for how to remove the lint trap housing https://youtu.be/aFy2tKg3hUA Clean everything out and you should be OK! Ken's Appliance Repair
