I have a older Fridgidaire stove that has 2 of the eyes either completely off or on high - regardless of where the control knob is set. There is no low or medium temperature. I am not a technician but someone told me it was the thermostat/ control knob. Does anyone have any information or suggestions? Can this be repaired without alot of knowledge or expense?

The problem is in the surface unit switch (control switch). You will have to know the model number to order the switch. One tip I will give you is that when you replace the switch; do not unhook any of the wires to the old switch until the new one is in place if possible. Then unhook the wires one at a time and place them on the appropriate terminal on the new switch because if you hook it up wrong you can ruin all of the switches on the range or worse! Also make sure you disconnect the power to the range before attempting this. Oh and be sure to read any instructions that come with the new switch. Hope this helps. Range Repair Guide

On most ranges it’s in the storage drawer but on some of the older Frigidaires ranges it was under one of the surface units, if not it may be in the oven door.
