I was replacing the bottom heating element for my grandparents oven. When I pulled the old element out it came out with no resistance yet an additional piece came out along with the left terminal. It looked like a small connector of some kind. I have no experience with ovens so I'm not sure what to call it. Before I could snap a picture my grandfather stuck it on the new and put it back in. I figured I would see if there was any heat coming out and nothing happened. When I removed the new heating element to get a photo of the piece that either broke off or came out it did not come out this time. I'm not sure if this is repairable or if that little piece was the whole issue in the first place. And how would I even retrieve that small piece? I apologize if this comes across confusing.

Any help is appreciated...thanks!!

Here are your parts
Parts for Whirlpool RF376PXYW2 Range - AppliancePartsPros.com

Be sure that you unplug the unit when working on it.
Depending where the switches are there can still be voltage at the oven elements even when they are off.

Unplug the unit and remove the rear cover so you can see what is going on.

I am not sure what the part you saw was.
It might be a double connector.
One connector goes from the bake to the broil element.
The other goes up to the controls.
Could be just one of the wires came off.

I am off to the lake today so will not be available till next week.
If you need more immediate extra help it may be a good idea to start a new post referring back to this one and with any additional info you have.
