The hot surface indicator light has been on for 24 hours is there any reason for alarm. I have been through one house fire in my life I don't want another. is there a short or maybe a fuse that can be changed.

See the attachment for the wiring diagram.As long as none of the stove top elements is on then you should not have to worry.

If you trace out the circuit for the hot suface light you will see tah a set of contacts in the element control infinite switches turns this light on.
My guess would be that one of these is always closed turning the light on.

You can find which one with a meter or by unplugging them one at a time till you find the correct one.
The meter method is preferable as it can be done with the unit unplugged so there is less danger of shorting something out.

Note always unplug the unit when working on it, then unplug the infinite switch. Be sure nothing can short out then plugit back in to see if the light goes off.
If not unplug the unit, re-connect the infinite switch and try another one.
