My freezer freezes over about every 2 weeks. I've already replaced the defrost timer which is what the service repair man told me it was but I'm still having the same problem. Anyone have any ideas? He also checked that the thermostat had power and it did so i am at a loss. Any ideas will help thanks.

Here are your parts Parts for Maytag MSD2756GES Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comUnless the parts list is incorrect this unit uses an adaptive defrost board (item 13 in section 02) not a defrost timer. I am not sure what thermostat you mean. There are two of them. One is the main temperature control thermostat. The other is a defrost thermostat, it is in the freezer clipped to the top of the evaporator coils. It is important to know which it is board or timer as how to force a defrost cycle is different which you have to do to troubleshoot this. |

I am on thr road till the end of the month so getting on line is iffy.
I will try to find out how you force a defrost cycle on this unit but do not have access to a lot of info.
The normal way to troubleshoot defrost problems is: Force a defrost cycle and check if the defrosr heater comes on. Be careful to not burn your fingers.
If it comes on then you replace the defrost board re: it is not programming a defrost cycle.
If it does not come on then you chech the defrost thremostat and the defrosr heater with a meter. Replace the bad part. If they both check out OK then replace the board re: it is not sending power to the heater.
One thing to note is to replace the defrost thermostat if it is bulged/deformed even if it measures OK. |
