My GE Spacemaker XL1800 runs constantly when plugged in. Turntable does not revolve, unit does not heat but inside light is on. Surface light operates by control panel as does the clock setting button but nothing else. Any of the buttons on the control panel make a funny noise when depressed.

You likely have a faulty door switch. Do you have a meter to test continuity with?

I just replaced the upper and lower door switches this morning. The 3rd (middle) switch has not been touched. I did notice that if I raise the door when it is in the closed position (unit is running) that it does stop running but the light remains on, control panel is blank and still makes funky noise when any button on the control panel is depressed. Not sure that any of this explains why the unit will not heat.

If the control panel beeps and the display is blank, the control is faulty. What was the original reason you replaced the switches?

Per your suggestion last week. I don't mind the expense of those as I never stated anything about what the control panel was doing.

I am really sorry, I did not recognize your post but found the original one from the 13th. Without the control board issue, the door switches would have likely remedied the issue. However, if the panel beeps, we know it has power to it. So, if the display is out, we know the board is faulty. If you are interested, the part is below but will likely not be economical to replace. I was afraid of the cost of a control board but will look into it. Thanks for all your help. I may be on my way to a 'new' purchase in a few days.
