unfortunately, the bearing is part of the tub and cannot be serviced separately. unit must be entirely disassembled to repair. because of cost customers rarely repair. sorry

have worked on maytag 32 years. trust me. you have to replace outer tub.

Scott both you and Denman are correct. Yea Maytag/Whirpool say's replace the entire tub, always have and I'm sure they always will. Trust me, I worked for them for many yrs. also, started on their Tech Line when it was MAYCOR and ended up as a District Service Manager. Then came a thing called Whrilpool. I lived through the Neptune fiasco. Prior to that I had my own Service Company and grew up in the Appliance Service business in my fathers company. I'm no youngster either.

Maytag never gave out the bearing part numbers or put them on their parts page, and I'm sure they never will. But there is a part # for them, and has been for yrs. Personally I wouldn't take on the job of doing the bearings separately, especially for a older Neptune with their track record. Obviously it's a complete teardown and removing them and reinstalling the bearings correctly requires great care.

I don't want to get in the middle of two differing opinions, but I'd thought I'd shed some light on this.

yes it can be done. I have done -----one------, because I will never do another. I did that one for inlaws. by the time you do the tear down, beat the bearing out, replace and replace the seals and reassemble, believe me, you will never want to see another one. I am with adam, not worth the hassle, so I always discourage it by saying you have to replace the rear tub.
