When washer gets to the spin cycle I have to lighten the load to get it to spin at full speed or I have to spin it myself to get it up to speed. What should I check for?

I dont have the model number. It is a GE 7 Cycle Heavy Duty Extra Large Capacity top loader. It is fifteen years old
