I have a problem with the Agitator not working. While trying to remove the agitator to inspect the grooves to see if they are damaged, I'm unable to remove the agitator. Once I unscrew the cap, there is a screw at top of agitator. I was told to place a belt underneath the agitator and give a tug and the agitator will pop out. I believe that I must remove the bolt at the top. The nut is flush with the top of the agitator. There is no way to reach the bolt because it is flush with agitator. Do you know how to remove agitator on this old stackable washer/dryer combo?

Use a 1/2 inch socket wrench with extension to remove the bolt.

Hello Eric, Is it possible that the agitator can be pushed down far enough to get a socket wrench on the 1/2 inch bolt? I can see the bolt but it is flush with the top of the agitator and it is countersunk into the agitator. Their is no way to get a socket onto the bolt unless the agitator will go down 1/4-1/2 an inch. Rick

This washer is made by Electrolux for GE. I have a service manual for the model that has the fabric softener dispenser on top of the agitator and I now see that yours does not have this so the top of your agitator is different. The only thing I can think of is to use a wire with a hook on it to try and fish under the agitator to see if some clothing is caught under there that may have caused the agitator to work it's way up into the bolt head. A clear photo of your agitator/bolt may be useful, I can ask around.
