It is difficult to get to the water valves for me, so, can I jump V and L to actuate the valve to see if the valve is working? and, What should I see from the IR unit when the beam is not blocked? Thanks so much for all the valuable info I have read on this forum

Hi, My Whirlpool/Kenmore refrigerator ice maker stopped working working 2 months ago. The optics lights blinked twice, then pause, then twice with flap shut. I replaced both optics boards, and it worked fine. Now I'm back to no ice, and the optics blinking twice with flap shut. Could there be something causing these optic boards to go bad, or is bad optics? Model 106.53669300

Hello Gene, I have a whirlpool side by side refrigerator(GSF26C5EXY00) with in door ice and water dispenser. The water and ice dispenser both stopped working completely after 1 year of service. I called the a&e factory service and they said I need to replace the entire door and there is nothing that is seviceable in the door.
So, I took it up as challenge and opened up the panel in the door and found that the water dispenser switch had a broken wire in it. It was serviceable so I soldered it and that helped fix the water dispenser and it worked fine but not the ice maker. The ice maker did not make ice even for a week after the water dispenser started working.
I came upon this forum and found all the diagnostic tips. I tried the switch of the inlet valve solenoid wires and pressing the water dispenser switch. There was no water in the ice maker. So, thinking that it needed a new inlet valve I have switched the wires back and closed the back panel.
Now, I see that the water dispenser is dispensing water even without pressing the switch every 35-40mins and sometimes even at a 15min interval.
Please advise what could be wrong here. The water dispenser started doing this only after I tried the solenoid wire switch.

Hello, This timing is for the ice maker. Looks like you did not connect the wires correctly to the water inlet valve and the water dispenser solenoid now is operated by the ice maker. Here are the breakdown diagrams and Parts for Whirlpool GSF26C5EXY00 Refrigerator - AppliancePartsPros.comGene.

Hi Gene
The inlet valve solenoids on this model have different size pins. The water solenoid pins are smaller than the ice maker inlet valve solenoid pins. So, there is no chance to connect one connector to the other. The connector with the smaller pins would not fit on the other.
Could this be a symptom of a blocked pipe that is forcing the water to leave out of the water dispenser?
The water dispenser is working fine. No issues with that. If I put water into the ice maker mold it makes ice and the harvester is dumping the cubes into the ice container. The infra red control is sending signal to the solenoid to pump water but that water is coming out of the water dispenser. I'm clueless at this point as what to do.
Please advise.

Hi,
I've started having a problem with my ice maker. It recently started to only produce enough water to fill one cubes worth of ice - the cube nearest where I presume the water comes from.
Is this likely to be a blockage possibly even frozen water as I think a guest may have turned the machine off for a period by mistake? No one has made an adjustment to the water timer on the actual ice maker, which still works to make one cube at a time. The red light seems to be behaving as expected wi two flashes when door open and solid when the lever is depressed.
The fridge is installed so very difficult to get access to the rear.
Any recommendations?
Thanks
