I have a whirpool duet dryer and my 220 switch was old and needed replacement. Anyhow when I plug the dryer up and went to start the dryer something in the back popped and dryer stopped working completely. Im wanting to know what to check first. If there is a fuse that pops or if its the whole motherboard

"220 switch is the 3 prong connector" so this is the line/power cord, correct?
It sounds like you must have made a mistake when you connected it, so first you have to check that it is wired OK. What was the original problem?
Next I would check the power. Try flipping the breaker off/on slowly a couple times. Sometimes you can loose half the line without actually tripping the breaker. Check the voltage at the plug L1 to L2 should be 240 volts L1 to Neutral and L2 to Neutral, both should be 120 volts. If OK Unplug the unit and check the wires at the terminal strip in the machine to make sure none are loose or burned out If OK Check the power at the terminal strip. Do this with the heater off and on. Be careful as 240 volts is lethal !!!
The thermal fuse just cuts power to the motor. The display should still light up. |
