I have a GE Space Maker XL 1800 which has recently started to make a loud humming/buzzing noise. The noise dose not happen all the time and the microwave is still working. I see that it could be the Magnetron, how so i trouble shoot?

Does it happen all the time when you use the microwave with 100% power?

If it does, then you don't need any troubleshooting. Just replace the magnetron.

Yes,it has been just heating stuff up. Has not acted up more than a few times, is it possible we're at the beginning stages?

Is this a complicated repair, where or how do I get to the mag., do I need any special tools?

You would not need any special tools but you will need to remove the microwave from the cabinet.

So far I would recommend not to do anything until it'll die completely.
