My Whirlpool double oven Model RBD305PDS14 display is not working. The oven has power the lights will turn on and off, lights turn on when you open the door, and the keys beep when pressing the keypad. I read other posts and replaced the Electronic Control and Control Panel and nothing changed. I tested all three fuses and all read (.01). I am stumped... When I turn on and off the power from the breaker the oven beeps when it is turned on and then makes a series of beeps about a minute later (one long and then 4 short). If I try turning the oven to bake and press start within that minute I can get the oven to operate but then it errors out at the minute mark. However the display is blank/black the entire time during everything. It has yet to display anything. I have inserted and removed the ribbon connecter on the display multiple times to ensure it is connected. Still nothing, any ideas? I hope someone can help me!

Hi.

Turn the oven off.
Locate the transformer behind the control panel.
Using the multimeter check the continuity between 2 red and 2 blue contacts at the transformer.Take the one wire off when testing.Replace if any of the two windings is open.

The transformer Part number: 9760587
Part number: 9760587

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Top Venting parts for Whirlpool RBD305PDS14 - AppliancePartsPros.com

Post the results.

Simon,

Thanks for the reply. I am not quite sure how to test the part you described. It has four connections correct 2 red and 2 blue? It does make a little humming noise when i have the oven powered on. Please describe a little more in detail I am a newby when it comes to this. If this part is malfunctioning is there a way to bypass it so the system work until the new part gets here?
Thanks for your help.

Hi.

First of all turn the power to the oven off.

You need a multimeter to check the continuity of the two windings. One is with 2 blue wires and another with 2 red wires.Take one wire off each winding and with the meter set to continuity touch with each meter's probe one of the same color contacts. You should read >0 ohm.
If you read infinity - transformer is bad.
You can't bypass it.

I read this post and went and check mine, the two red wire from the transformer read open and the two blue I got continuity. I hope hope this is the problem.
The board cost $285 for mine. Thank for the tip.

I ohm out the transformer ,where the two red wire goes I got 60 ohms, and where the two blue goes I got 2.2 ohms. When doing continuity I got beep on blue and Notting on red. Is this a bad transformer.

Hi.

If you checked continuity with one wire off the contact then most likely the transformer is good.

I got continuity red to red and blue to blue. Transformer should be good. Exact same symptoms as the first post. Display is dead. Oven lights work. Oven briefly tries to work. Buttons beep, but nothing further. What do I replace or check next? TIA.

Hi.

Most likely it's the control board.

Post the model number of the unit, please.

Simon.
