When we operate our Whirlpool Model (LST7233AN0) on normal wash cycle it won't run the spin cycle. We first noticed the problem when the machine should have completed the cycle we opened the door and it was still full of water and when we tried to go back and run what was needed we found out that the only way we could spin the clothes was on permanent press or delicate cycle which doesn't spin fast enough for towels and/or jeans. i would like to know what I need to fix my machine. Thank You.

The clutch is one possible problem, this part here.

Part number: AP3094537
Part number: AP3094537

To get a possible confirmation, do this. Have one person depress the lid swtich. Then set the machine on spin for regular cycle with it empty and see if it spins. If it does the clutch is the likely problem.

If it does not, turn the basket and see if it will start spinning (be very careful, do not get caught in the agitator.). If it starts spinning, again the clutch is the likely problem.

If it will not spin in the regular cycle no matter what you do above, the timer is likely the issue.

The washer should normally drain for 2 minutes, before spinning, after the agitate cycle assuming the neutral drain mechanism in the gearcase is working. This would rule out the clutch since it isn't involved during drain which yours is not doing during normal cycle. I assume the washer did actually agitate during normal cycle wash? Likely timer issue.
