About a month ago we noticed the items on the top shelf of the fresh food section freezing. The temperature control was set at the factory setting. I turned it down some and the fresh food thawed out. About a week later it started freezing again so again I turned it down again. Right now, it is just above 0 (zero) on the temperature control and things are starting to freeze again.
If I turn it to 0 the damper control closes, just above 0 and it opens. There is no frost or frozen anything on the back of the freezer. I hate to spend the $200+ on a new control box assembly only to find out it's something else.
Any help or thoughts? Thanks, RB

You might have system problems. Measure the stabilized freezer temperature and post.

Sorry for the delay in response, was out of town and couldn't check it. I'll check that and post it.

Tested freezer temp, and it is steady at 0 F, -18 C. Testing fridge side currently. Seems that the temperature on the freezer is good.

Fridge temp is 28F, -2 C. The temp control in the fridge is at it's lowest point without turning it off completely.

Replace the cold control, the one that turns the compressor off. Make sure you put the new control sensing wire exactly where the old on was.

I just saw this reply. Some reason I didn't get notified. Do you know what part number this would be for Model #FRS26HF6BW2. Seems there are a couple of Cold Controls. Thank you tremendously for your help!!!

Look at the control view on this site, either the control on the right, or left will turn off the compressor, replace that one.

Got the part, actually purchased the entire control box assembly since it was just a little more and I could sell parts I didn't need if necessary. Anyways, got it all hooked up last night and the temp in the fridge side only comes down to 52F and freezer is only 48F. Pretty sure I hooked everything up the same it was.
Any thoughts?
