Possible there is a fluctuating voltage in the power line to the refrigerator. Check the voltage at the wall outlet.

You may want to install a good surge protector.

I checked the voltage and it is 120.4 and fluctuates a couple of tenths. I will let it run tonight and see if I may have had a bad connection.

Gene I have a KitchenAid KSCS25INSS00 refrigerator and the ice maker stopped making ice.

Water dispenser works fine
Infrared light blinks twice, stops, blinks twice, etc. when door is open
Infrared light stays on when left hand flapper is depressed.
Infrared light goes out when flapper AND interior light switch are closed.

I'd like to start simple.

1. Is there a procedure for checking to see if the filler tube is iced up?

2. Is there a procedure for clearing ice from the filler tube?

Thanks in advance
CJ

Hi CJ,

1. The easiest way is to disconnect that tube from the water valve on the back of the refrigerator and blow some air through the tube.

2. If the tube is iced up, you can use a turkey buster with hot water from the freezer side of the tube.

If the tube is iced up, defrost it and replace the water valve.

If the tube is clear but there is no water to the ice maker, the problem can be a bad water valve or a bad ice maker. In order to determine it you can swap the wires at the water valve valve solenoids, then press the water dispenser lever for a few seconds and check for some water inside the ice maker.

If there is water, replace the ice maker.

If there is no water, replace the water valve.

Gene, on my Kitchen Aid KSRI25FNSSOO, the ice maker voltage test shows no voltage at L and N, and 35 volts when I test the harness black and white wires with the ice maker disconnected. Is that the correct line voltage for this unit?
If so, am I correct in thinking the ice maker unit has failed?

Thanks Gene. I'll give this a try in the next day or so.

Quick question on repair videos. I saw the one for the water valve replacement. It was very good. Are there others and is there an index or library for the videos?

Thanks
CJ

Remove the ice maker and check the black wire for continuity.

Perform the test as described in the attached file and post the results.

Black wire has continuity from connector to test point L.
Connecting the jumper from T to H does not cause the ice maker to rotate, however I noticed the tray heating up. The big white gear at the end easily pulls out away from the motor drive gear, and I can rotate the fingers to any position. Is it possible that the timing is off?
