Hello Gene, i juts bougth a side by side Maytag Fridge model MD5955Y and it only been working 4 days, and i feel that on the fridge side the food is just fresh and have it to the max temperature so i believe it should be fresher than that compared to another fridges that i have own in the past, what could it be? what could be wrong?

My GE side by side GSL22JFPH has exactly the same problem you described in the first post. I couldn't find the defrost timer in the break down diagrams. Does my fridge have this part any way?

This is pretty much the same problem Ive been experiencing for the past few months. I have a Bosch KUS40 refrigerator (with freezer on top).It works fine for a few weeks then it will start to leak at the bottom of fridge,after a week or so the refrigerator part wont cool anymore but freezer part will still work fine.Then a few days later my ice cream almost turns to solid rock,so I'll switch the refrigerator off for a few days then back on and all will work fine again only for the above senario to repeat itself. Now,I cant find my model on this site probably because its only found where Im from (New Zealand) or Australia,so its kinda hard for me to find the thermostat/defrost heater and timer.I have a fair idea what they look like,its just identifying the parts properly. Any help much appreciated, (TIA).

Thanks! I have done manual defrost twice and am convinced that the problem is with the defrost control. I have been wondering how to remove the back panel of the freezer? Does the ice maker part need to be removed? Is there any step by step instructions with photos? I really don't want to mess up. Forgive me about this very newbie-ish question.
