Hi, Cindy.

You need to check several things.

If the condenser coils are clean.

If the condenser motor runs OK.

If the water fills up to the top of the container.

If the water runs down the evaporator evenly.

Turn the water off and check if the evaporator frosting up evenly.

If everything checks OK, than I would suggest to replace the evaporator thermistor.
When installing the new one make sure the surface it's attached to is clean of any deposits.

The evaporator thermistor Part number: 2217289
Part number: 2217289

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool KUIS18NNJB5 ICE CUBE MAKER | AppliancePartsPros.com

Thank you. Post the results.

I have purchased and changed out the thermistor. the ice that is being made seems to be "larger" or "thicker" than before which is a good thing BUT the machine still doesn't make enough to fill the bucket.
just a handful of ice is made daily

any suggestions as to what I should try next?

thanks
Cindy

Hi, Cindy.

Have you checked the rest of the things I listed earlier?

Hi.

I'm afraid there is the sealed system problem and you need a pro to take care of it.

Thank you.
