ge gsh25kgmd frost on back of freezer , fridge warm. how do I check defrost system on this model

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air.

check , defrost heater, defrost thermostat here-Refrigerator Repair Guide: How To Fix a Refrigerator - ACME HOW TO.com

If they are ok the problem is the control board part 801 on this diagram of your sealed system & motherboard.
