Origial problem was timer would not advance and automatically shut dryer off. Replaced timer, but problem still exist. Dryer is an auto sensing unit and should advance the timer as clothes get dryer. Dryer heats properly on all tempature settings. Timer advances properly and shuts dryer off when running in timed air fluff mode.

Is solution to replace the Thermostat with part # AP4038076? Is this thermostat sensor actually a "moisture sensor"? If this is not the correct solution, can you provide the correct solution(s)?

Not really a moisture sensor but it's normally open contacts provide power to the timer when the heater is shut off.

If this is not the correct solution, can you provide the correct solution(s)?
Looks like a good bet to me. Make sure to mark the wires before replacing it as it has normally open and normally closed contacts and an internal heater.
Only way to check it is to heat the face up with a soldering gun till it trips and then measure the normally open contacts.
