Maytag MDE7658BYW Timer not advancing/dryer will not shut off

Hi, I have read several threads on this but I would like some personalized input prior to ordering replacement parts.
My drier does not cycle the timer in any mode. It heats and dries fine, but doesn't cycle in either Accusensor mode or timed drying and therefore doesn't shut off. It also doesn't advance in air fluff and timed drying.
I've read several users who replace to timer to no avail. That seems the logical thing to replace. Others have said the dryness sensor board and that fixed it. Is there a way to determine which of these (if either) is bad or what is your recommendation. I do have a decent multimeter that I can check voltage if you give me some place to test.
The only other indicator I have is the moisture indicator cycles between damp and wet continually when a new load is put in. I'm not sure if it acted that way prior to the problem or not.
Thanks!

Here are your parts includes a wiring diagram. Parts for Maytag MDE7658BYW Dryer - AppliancePartsPros.comOne check you can do is to place the unit in timed dry. Start the cycle and check for voltage (120 volts) across the timer motor. If there is voltage and the timer does not advance then replace the timer. If there is no voltage then I would replace the dryness board. Be very very careful when doing this as there is 240 at the timer which is lethal!!! |
