My Ref has stopped working all of a sudden, no fan noise but all the lights are lit and no noise at all. i cleaned it up but still no luck, any ideas.

Hi.

Here are the breakdown diagrams and Replacement parts for Whirlpool GD5YHAXNL00 Refrigerator | AppliancePartsPros.com

Unplug the unit.
Pry off the control box cover #25 on the diagram #3.
Remove 4 screws, open the control box.
Install the jumper wire between two leads of the cold control #9. Restore power.
If the refrigerator works - replace the cold control.
If not - replace the adaptive defrost control #6.

The cold control Part number: 2198202

The defrost control Part number: 4388932
Part number: 4388932


You can use the plastic sleeve from the old cold control.

Hi Simon, so it can't be the starter, i have removed that one and it is rattling too, I have removed the control box, what type of jumper cable i need to replace #9.

Hi.
INSTALL THE JUMPER BETWEEN TWO WIRES OF THE COLD CONTROL (#9 on the diagram #3).
If you don't feel comfortable doing any electrical tests then may be you can run a continuity test, but you'll need a multimeter.
If you don't - then get both parts I've listed and replace them one at the time.
You can return any unused parts even if they been installed.
