My freezer temp will stay at around 11 degrees and will not get any cooler.took back panel off and evaporator had A lot of ice on it. Decided to change defrost thermostat and melt ice on evaporator. The freezer then cooled down to 0degrees and held there for 2 days. Now the temp. Is back up around 13 degrees and the evaporator is frozen up again. Any advice would be appreciated.

It seems like you have a defrost problem however most of the time when you melt the ice (and not repair the problem) it will take longer than 2 days for the coils to ice back up but this can depend on different things such as how much the door is opened and how humid it is. Also most of the time the freezer will still cool pretty well for a good while, until the frost builds up a lot. You may have a different problem but take a look at the picture on the page below and compare it to what you saw the first time the coils frosted up. If your evaporator coils are not frosted up the way that is shown in the picture describe how the frost build-up you see. Refrigerator Defrost Problem Diagnostics If only half the coils are frosty you could have a sealed system problem. If you determine your refrigerator has a defrost problem there are four things that can cause this and they are the main board, defrost heater, defrost thermostat and the evaporator thermistor. Since you already replaced the heater the next most common thing (in my experience) is the evaporator thermistor however, guessing is usually not a good strategy when trying to make repairs given the price of parts and shipping these days. I have laid out instructions on how to narrow down your problem on this page. Refrigerator Defrost Problem Diagnostics

Originally thought this was a defrost problem, but I have changed the defrost thermostat, the evaporater thermister and the main board, the heater and the thermistor checked out good, but i changed the thermister anyway because it wasnt that costly to try. None of these have helped the problem. The evaporater coil has a little more ice at the bottom than at the top. I have cleaned the condenser coil also. I have also checked the sealing material around the doors and it appears to be in good shape other than that I dont know how to see if doors are leaking. You can hear a whistling for a couple of minutes when the freezer door has been open for a minute then you close the door. Any more advice before I break down and call a repairman. Please let me know if you need any further info.

You may have a ice blockage in the air returns for the fridg section. Also, you can allways manually force defrost with a jumper between the 3 pin power connector, just unplug it and put the jumper between the mating pins line and def.as labeled on the board. Lack of defrost would indicate a bad wire as all other items have been replaced.
