My freezer had water under tonight when I got home from work. This has happened before, I blamed the kids for leaving door open. Well it happened again today. I had not voltage at compressor, the thermostat was calling (closed). I tapped the timer on the back of unit and it started. I thinking I have a bad timer. What do you think.............
Thanks

Sounds like you found the problem

Did you notice if the fan in the freezer was running?
It is usually wired in parallel to the compressor, so if it was also off this raises the odds that you have the correct culprit.

thanks for the reply
no the fan was not running and did not have voltage to it, the defrost element was not hot, but when i tapped the timer unit came on. I checked temp this morn and it was 10, seems to work fine now. This is 2nd time this happened, I cant trust this freezer.
Thanks

Well worth investing in a new timer at approx $16.00.
