Recently had to change spin belt on washer because piece of clothing got caught above drum during spin cycle causing the drum not spin and belt to burst. After changing belt I only hear ticks from timer when water is supposed to be draining. I am thinking that either the switch or a relay? got burnt because of the drum not spinning or the water pump is dead. Any advise would be appreciated.
Regards

Just a followup note: The washer seems to fill with water correctly initially, agitates and spins, just does not seem to fill anymore water for rinse or drain water after initial wash

Check the belt tension. Possible a clog in the pump. Here are the break down diagrams for the Maytag washer Model SAV3655AWWGene.

Pump seems okay as when I remove hose from side that goes to drain water spews out. If the drum is spinning and agitating would that not mean that the belt tension was okay? Is the motor supposed to spin a different direction when in the rinse/wash cycle vs. when the water is draining? Currently the motor only seems to spin in a counter clockwise direction which seems to be the correct direction for water drainage.

These should help http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16022937.pdf http://www.servicematters.com/m...ibrary/docs/16022615.pdfMotor should change direction for agitate and spin. During spin the water is pumped out. Pump seems okay as when I remove hose from side that goes to drain water spews out. Gravity by itself will do this. Check the drain hose for a clog, unlikely but a possibility. Remove the pump and check it. Could be the impeller is broken. If the drum is spinning and agitating would that not mean that the belt tension was okay? Normally yes, if it acheives a high spin speed Is the motor supposed to spin a different direction when in the rinse/wash cycle vs. when the water is draining? No, Agitate and spin changes direction Currently the motor only seems to spin in a counter clockwise direction which seems to be the correct direction for water drainage. Do not think unit would do both agitate and spin, if it will only run in one direction |
