Dear Sir,
My Jenn Air electric Oven has developed a short a while ago which took the circuit breaker out. I have fixed the short and the circuit breaker; but now, on bake mode, the baking element will not work; however, on boil mode, the bottom will get somewhat hot and HALF of the top element will get glowing red, If you could advise me on what I need to do or what I need to order
Regards
Iyad

Hi Iyad

Where exactly was a short and how did you fix it?

The first thing I would check is wires to the bake element. Turn off the power to the oven and pull the bake out as much as wires go. Check for burned wires.

If the wires are good, check the bake element for continuity and replace it if it's open.

If this is not the issue, check for 120V between each wire and the ground and for 240V between both wires.

Post all results, please.

Good luck.
Gene.

I have had repair services out numerous times to correct the temperatur swings in this oven. We replaced an 25 year old Thermador wall oven with a new Frigidare model GLEB30S8CQ. This oven cannot maintain a constant baking temperature. Cakes my wifw has baked foer over 40 years all fall with this oven.

For example, pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees and the temperature rose to +/- 410 degrees. the interior temperature then dropped to 330 degrees before the heating element came on again.

The oven then went from 330 degrees to 390 degrees and then dropped to 331 degrees.

This cycle never varies more than a couple of degrees.

Hi pcdondero

What exactly and when was done by the repair services?

Please, post the reply as a new thread.
