I am having a problem with a GE top-loader. It will agitate normally for a few minutes, then the motor will suddenly start operating intermittently on approx. 1/2 to 1 second cycles. If I switch over to spin, the same thing happens. If I let it set for a bit, I can get it going again, but it soon falls back into the intermittent motor problem. When the motor is operating like this, I can hear what sounds like a relay switching on and off in the motor housing. The machine has an electronic timer (not mechanical).

Any suggestions?
Thanks

You have a bad motor centrifical switch. These are not replaceable so you will need to order a new motor.
