I just ordered the ignitor to replace the failed one in my GE XL44. I had some difficulty removing the screws attaching the old ignitor. Do you have a good wrench matched to the size of the bolt/screw or know the right size so I can pick up one at a hardware store?

Does the above instructions work for the Whirlpool MOdel SF315PEPQ3 with the replace ment part number Ap3129373?

As one of the posters mentioned, my new igniter differed from the original in that the 2 metal connections inside the new plug has been redesigned, so I couldn't just plug the new igniter into the old plug that led from the rear of the oven. So, what I did was cut off the new plug, discarded it, then cut off the plug from the old igniter and spliced the old plug onto the wiring of the new igniter and used the ceramic connectors that came with the new igniter to secure it. Works fine. I'm testing the oven at 475 for an hour to make sure there are no heat issues. The spliced connection is living behind the metal panel but they're still inside the oven. Let me know if what I did is ok from a safety standpoint.

Great, thanks for the response. Is working fine. Noticed, however, that one of the ceramic wire nuts is kind of loose. Would like to wrap it in silver HVAC tape to keep it secure. What do you think??

The main purpose of this wire nut is to provide good electrical connection. So, the connection quality of a loose wire nut is questionable. I would replace this wire nut.
