Wife loaded it with a heavy load last night. Went to check when it was finished running and the clothes were still soaked. After unloading I tried to cycle the machine through. It started to spin but then shut down, waited a couple of minuets and it started to spin again and once again shut down. I can not get it to agitate. It tries to start but sounds like the motor is in a bind. The lid switch is working and the water pump is just a couple of years old. If it is the motor or transmission are they better repaired or replaced and if so is it cost effective on an older machine?

Seems like either there is something caught in the tub or pump. I would check pump first, then shine a lit in spin basket to look for something caught in tub.

You hit the nail on the head! I had recently replaced the pump, so I did not think of looking there. But guess what...I found a small sock caught in the pump. I was able to pull it out and now the machine works as good as new. Thanks alot, you saved me from some major expense.
