What could be causing my dishwasher motor to be so loud during washing and rinsing. Besides old age is it something we can repair ourselves? If so how? My other half checked and there is nothing caught in there. please help.

Sorry for the delay. Probably the correct model number is DU8770XB0. Remove the bottom access panel and check for any water marks on the motor and around it. If it was a slow water leak then the motor bearing is damaged and the solution is to replace the whole motor & pump assembly. Another cause of such noise can be a broken spring under the chopper blade (#19 on the diagram). You have to remove the pump outlet, the wash impeller and the separator (#14, #11 & #9) to access these parts.
