I have a roper by whirlpool electric range. The oven does not work, and the burners will not get to high heat. What could be wrong?

For starters, if it is less than a year old as posted above call a Whirlpool tech for repair.

Go and flip your breaker off and on a few times, and see if the oven will work. You will most likely have a power problem, or a burn't wire on the terminal block where the cord comes in. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

It is about 1.5 years old... I flipped the breakers, still the same. I took the back panel off and discovered that my 8" burner switch has burnt marks on it. I didn't see any signs of burnt wires. Any other advice?

make sure you have 240 volts at the wall outlet, and at the terminal block like stated above. Almost always a power problem when the whole oven wont heat up properly.

If we go back to your original post, it sounds like not enough power. You could have a problem with that switch, but you stated that the burners will not get to high heat, and the oven does not work. If that one switch is bad, it won't make the oven work. I think you still have a power problem. If you don't have a meter you are guessing. Also Nat had suggested that if the oven is under a year old, you need to call the warranty people. Tom ApplianceEducator.com

Thanks guys! It was a bad breaker and the terminal block was fried. Installed new breaker and terminal block and it works like a champ!
