Ice tray broke at the post end so it was laying in ice bin. How do I put a new one back?
There seems to be a latch to undo the mechanism which turns the tray over once fill but can' t figure out how to unlatch it. Am I approaching this correctly?

Somehow the post on the ice tray broken. Can't figure out where clips are to take out front fan? assemble so the new tray can fit back in. Where or how do I find out?

Dr, It's best that you remove the assembly(at least it was for me,especially the mechanism tabs). Once you've got it out and apart, check the support/housing assembly, for cracks and broken or loose components,especially the back support wall. Here are the instructions for the support and ice maker repairs from the service manual, The ice maker is located inside of the ice dispenser assembly. 1. Remove ice maker support screws (2), and slide out.
2. Disconnect the ice maker wire connector. 3. Unlock the locking tabs to separate the ice maker kit.In order to assemble the icemaker kit. 1. Assemble the geared motor shaft and the front of
ice tray.
2. Lift the front locking tab and assemble the ice
maker kit.
3. Connect the ice maker wire connector. 4. Match the tab holes and tabs(2) located on the top of the liner, and slide the ice maker in. 5. Tighten the screws (2) of the ice maker support. Good Luck, :) :) :)

Thank you. I guess I was too tall to see the screws under the top front part. Got it out. Now I have to order a new tray.

Dr, Great job, You did check the housing bracket for cracks and damaged or loose parts ? This should be the part number for the ice tray, Part number: AP4145771

To access the dispenser assembly, First, unplug the power cord, or turn power to the unit OFF. (that way you don't get hurt or short anything out). You'll need a flat blade screwdriver, or similar tool, and some sort of pad, so you don't damage the door panel. On the bottom of the face plate, you'll find 2 slots molded in the bottom edge of the panel, with the tool, insert it into the slots, and pry out until it breaks loose, and carefully go around the remainder of the panel, and remove, Be very careful with the wire harness for the display board and touch panel. Once you've got the panel removed, the brackey and switch assembly is a "snap" plastic tab attachment process, so keep the scredriver handy. Good Luck, :) :) :)

Thanks for the info. Will tackle it once I get the parts.
Regarding the other problem where I had to replace the ice tray. I put it in and got one cycle of ice cubes before it stopped filling up the tray with water. Would the line have frozen for having the ice turned off, or is there a senser that attaches to the tray have failed?
Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problem?

Any suggestions on how to diagnose the problem? DR, I wouldn't think you'd have a frozen tank,or water line. And I don't think you have accidentally turned off the ice maker, you may want to go back into your use and care manual and double check, to make sure. Of course the first suspicion would be the tray thermistor(sensor). they were starting to have problems with the wire harness a few years back. :cool: :cool: :cool:

Yes I had turned off the ice while assemble with out to install the tray. Turned on and 1 set of cubes made but no water after that. Is there a way of testing the tray sensor or bypassing it to see if things will work so I would know that the sensor is bad?
What is the function of the sensor?
