The turntable starts to turn about 1/2 a revolution and stops. I am thinking that it is the turntable motor that needs replaced on this unit that is mounted in our kitchen. The glass tray turns freely with no resistance. Could it be some other problem?
If I purchase a replacement motor, is it hard to install? Can it be replaced from under the unit without removing it from the wall bracket? Do you have any replacement instructions to follow? I know this is a lot of questions, but any help would be appreciated.

Hi John, The first thing I would check is the coupler (#37 on the break down diagram). Remove the glass tray and pull the coupler up. Check it for any cracks. If the coupler is fine then the turntable motor has to be replaced. It can be easy replaced after the bottom panel removed - just two screws and the wire plug. - The part number for the coupler is AP2016754 - The part number for the turntable motor is AP2024962 Here are the break down diagrams for the GE microwave Model JVM1860SD001Gene.

We're having the same problem with our Jenn-Air JMC7000ADB microwave -- the turn table does not turn. The spindle turns when the glass tray is off but will not turn when it's on there. I'm pretty sure the motor needs to be replaced. Is this something that can be performed by a weekend DIYer or does it need to be done by a professional? Here is the part: MAYTAG Motor, turntable, part number: 56001231Thanks...

skimaniac6,
What is the complete model number of the microwave? You can find it inside the microwave.
Gene.

Hi Scott, Looks like the control board is bad because it controls all functions of the microwave, including the surface lights. - The part number for the control board is AP3192717 Here are the break down diagrams for the GE microwave Model JVM1860BD001Gene.

Sorry to not be more clear, the light problem started about 1 year ago and the turntable happened after we put a large heavy dish in and forgot to turn the turntable off. It still seems to spin till you put the glass plate on, then it won't turn. I can live without the nightlight function but not the turntable. Thamks again. Scott
