Washer making squealing sound while burning though belt is this a brake problem or transmission. The unit belt and pump was changed a few weeks ago and the washer performed well . Now the problem is back Do you have any idea?

If the tension on the belt that was installed recently was to tight it probably caused more problems. Did you have a tech come out or do it yourself?

NAt,

Are you saying the belt tension is the reason why the unit worked for weeks and then the pulley tension caused the belt to break? What about the break or the transmission? After the belt was changed I noitce the tub would not turn. I had to turn it counter clock wise to free it and then the motor was able to turn the tub freely.

No, I'm just saying that if the belt is put on and the tension to tight it can cause more problems. It's possilbe that the brake is grabbing too if you can get it going by hand. You may want to check it and see if that's the case.
