Can you be a little more descriptive as to how long it runs, then starts thawing, and so forth. Nat

When it fails, try to find out what is working/not working? Any light bulbs working? Fans turning?

Thanks. The inside light comes on but the fan or compressor will not run. For a while it would cool one day and then warm the next. There are two connections at the compressor. One is an overload and the other is a relay. How do I check them to see if they have power? Spent $45.00 today for tech to tell me its the compressor thats bad. He put a jumper on the controls inside the refrig and stated that it was the compressor that is bad. Told me it would cost more to replace compressor than a new refrig would cost. Even wrote up the bill saying recent storm caused low power and burned up compressor. What now?

I've never heard of anyone "putting a jumper on the controls" Sounds more like it's stuck in defrost with no fans running. But to check the compressor: Get an ohm meter, set to lowest ohms and zero the meter, remove one wire at a time and label it according to the terminal on the compressor. touch one to the common (C) terminal and the other probe ti the run (M)terminal, should read between 1-10 ohms. if not the compressor is bad. let me know and we can check something else if need be. Checked it as you stated. The compressor is now running and it cooled. Will wait for 24 hrs and check it again. Thanks
