I have a Kenmore Elite side X side. MFG date of 4/2000. The Start Device is bad, (actually blew out, frying the connectors on the white & Blue wires). The part #2188506 is reffering to part#8201799. This device does not look at all like the one that burnt. How much work is it going to be to change to the "updated" one? Should I just eliminate (by-pass) the run capacitor that was being used before, since the new part has one with it?

Thank You for any help in advance!

I don't see where this part has a run capacitor. Actually these are simple to replace, the instruction sheet will tell you where the wires go.

Thanks ABADFISH... I really appreciate the quick response... I guess I am o.k. with the run capacitor that is on there. I get 0 ohms when I checked it, is that o.k. ?
I checked the compressor between the posts, and I get 2.5 ohms, and 3.1 ohms.. As far as I can see from reading the similar posts here, that is o.k., is it?
