My Crosley washer will not spin in the spin cycle it starts to spin but then stops and just agitates. The lid switch is working because the motor starts in the spin cycle and runs and the tub tries to turn slowly sometimes. It appears to be mechanical problem. Any ideas?

You probably have a bad thrust bearing washer. Will need to install a thrust bearing kit with pulley. Pull front panel off and turn tranny pulley in spin direction, opposite from agitate. If no spin, this confirms bad thrust bearing washer. Go to Appliance repairs, Appliancehelp, Appliances, repairs to dryers washers dishwashers fridges repairs microwaves ge maytag kenmore frigidaire westinghouse inglis, appliance how to take apart information, purchasing an appliance help, model number help, for directions, this is basically a Maytag washer so follow directions for a Maytag.

The thrust assembly, when turned, pushes up a cam on the tranny pulley that releases the brake. If washers wear, the brake does'nt get released.

Wrap a towel around a piece of wood and stick it on top of the agitator, then force down the agitator by closing the lid and putting a toolbox on top.
This should help: Also, pry the shaft down with a flat bladed screwdriver to allow insertion of the C clip.
