The first thing you may want to do is make sure the blower wheel (#4 on the diagram) is not sliding along the motor shaft. If it does, replace it. If there is nothing wrong, the new high limit thermostat may solve the problem. If you need the correct part numbers, post the serial number of the dryer. Gene.

The blower wheel is in good shape. I rechecked the continuity on all of the parts and noticed that the Thermistor gave me resistance of 8ohm (if I am reading it correctly). Should this part be 0 like the rest? My model number is MDG5500aWW with a serial number of 56756985AX. If the Thermistor is ok I will order a new high limit thermostat.
Thanks

The high limit thermostat Part number: AP4036956
The normal thermistor resistance should be about 10K Ohms at 70 degrees. Gene.

Thanks Gene. I ordered the part and will let you know how it goes. This all started when I replaced a squeaky Bearing Idler Assembly . Can you think of anything that might have caused this problem. Could I have re-installed something wrong when putting it back together? Can the electric motor direction be reversed? I am grasping at anything at this point and am willing to look at any possibility. If I were to star this all over from the beginning, what would you have me check/replace? I see the flame come on and stay lit for about 2 minutes. It goes off for about 2 minutes and then it lights back up for about 30 seconds.

Update: I changed the High limit thermostat, it had no effect. My symptoms are that the dryer can run (on timed drying) for an hour and the clothes are not dry. If sensor dry is selected, the timer counts down quickly (starts at 60 and is at 20 in about 10 min)but when the buzzer sounds the clothes are not even close to being dry. Any ideas on what I should look at?

Does anyone have any ideas of what I should try next? I'm not sure where to go from here.

Quote:...I see the flame come on and stay lit for about 2 minutes. It goes off for about 2 minutes and then it lights back up for about 30 seconds... It should stay ON for about a minute. Such short time points to insufficient venting. Quote:...the timer counts down quickly (starts at 60 and is at 20 in about 10 min)... The control board can be bad as well. Gene.
